keep the classics alive

hi I'm Joe

I’m on a mission to live out a childhood dream of owning Classic Jetskis, Seadoo's, Yamaha's, Kawasaki’s and more! My goal is to keep alive this now dying breed of 2 strokes, that I grew up watching and luckily riding, as my Dad was mad on 2 strokes back in the day. I’m primed with a bucket list of now Classic Jetskis from the 80’s, 90’s & early 2000’s, that I want to get my hands on.

‘And so the story goes’

As a kid my Dad gave me lots of different jetski brochures and I vividly remember telling myself that ‘one day I will own one of these skis’...Fast forward 20 years & 2 strokes are now almost a thing of the past, with it being super hard to find clean examples.

‘I however wasn’t content with leaving them in the past’...

The bucket list

seadoo xpdi 2003
The XPDI was one of the first skis I fell in love with around the age of 10, albeit though, through the power of flicking through dealer brochures. Red has always been my favourite colour, so the DI always grabbed me more than the older carb XP 4th gen models...I also just remember being mesmerised with the spring seat... fast forward 16 years and I finally found one...a one owner, 34 hours pristine example. This was truly a childhood dream come true.

seadoo xp 1991
So naturally once I got the XPDI my intrigue for the XP’s grew, I wanted to learn more and get closer to understanding the innovation and history of the XP's. So I set out to find a first gen XP to see how far the XP's had come, in their 16 year run. Buying this 91 XP was the true spark for realising I had a real love affair with not just the XPDI, but all the classics.

yamaha wave raider 1996
So the next ski on the list was a classic example of 'right place right time'. I have to be honest, I initially only envisioned wanting Seadoo. Seadoo were the skis I grew up on and love the brand, therefore when this Raider came up, it was a mixture of intrigue for the unknown of another brand, coupled with the excitement of the great history I knew Yamaha had, with PWCs. And of course, this is again a 1 owner, low hour, pristine example.

seadoo sp 1990
So when it comes to the Seadoo SP, we are dealing with pure childhood nostalgia. My earliest memory of a jetski is the Seadoo SP. It was the first ski my dad owned, and back in an era where photos were to and far between, I literally still to this day, cherish only 1 or 2 pics that my dad took of his SP, back in the day. So when this SP came up, I jumped at it... Here in the UK I have literally only ever seen one SP come up and this is it... It connects so many dots for me in the circle of life (not to quote Disney).

Yamaha blaster ii 1998
Next up, enter the B2... for as long as I can remember since doing the CJ channel, everyone has always said you need a Blaster in your line up, and ok yes I know this is a B2 not the OG 1...but when this example came up, its maybe, if not the cleanest ski I have seen, 25 years removed. It looks like new! And it really didn’t disappoint, this Blaster is one of my favourite rides I’ve had!
find n0.6
seadoo gsx ltd 1999
The GSX Ltd! For me the GSX is one of, if not (aside from my beloved XPDI) the most beautiful Seadoo, Seadoo ever made. The red and black for me, is simply perfection. The logic behind this find is, I wanted to get the Ltd as wanted a 951 in the carburettor version, to compare to my XPDI. I also always wanted a GSX model badge in my line up... Obviously it had to be the 1999 in red... It also helps this ski has only 37 original hours on it!
find n0.7
seadoo xp 1995
The X4... This is without doubt the most asked for ski from my followers... yes I know it’s not the 787 XP but when this 717 came up... everything fell into place. The owner had owned this XP for 17 years... when he pulled it out the garage it was like 'Back to the Future'! And what followed has been none stop fun! The X4 hull is one of my favourite rides, if not my favourite!

seadoo spark trixx
🚀 relume launches
Purchasing a brand new Seadoo Spark Trixx back in 2021 was a full circle moment, and takes us all the way up to date. The Spark is a ski I have had one eye on for many years, so when the 2021 Lava red came out, it was the perfect time to jump and buy new, to compare what new gen has to offer.. I must say I’m loving it, it’s never going to be an XP, but its damn close!
find n0.9
seadoo hx 1996
🚀 relume launches
You guys asked and I finally found one! It is of course the Iconic Seadoo HX. When I saw this Seadoo HX 1996 717 pop up on Ebay at £500, it seemed like a joke! I of course rang the owner immediately and much to my surprise, it was genuine. As the story goes the owner had owned it for 7 years, and fast forward years later, the HX had been sat in his barn not being used. He said he had run out of time, passion and energy to finish the restore on it. He assured me it had 150psi per cylinder and that he had work done on it.

seadoo SPX 1998

Since day one of Classic Jetskis, everyone—and I mean everyone—has said there’s one machine we absolutely had to have in the collection, the iconic classic with the legendary engine. Well, I’m beyond stoked to say we finally found one, and not just any one, but an absolute time capsule with only 16 original hours on it 🚨🔥 You honestly have to see it to believe it 👀 Huge thanks to Tom from The Jetworks, an absolute legend, for letting me film and making the day unforgettable.

‘Whats next for the channel’

I have two definite classics left to find. Then it really is open season for seeing what else comes up in super clean condition. Plus seeing what you guys recommend or want to see...Who wants a stand up?

blaster 1 - 1995/96

The original OG Blaster 1...ideally 1995/96 as love those years colour ways the most. From the moment I got the B2 everyone said, 'if you think that's good...you've got to get the OG B1'.

YAMAHA SQUARE NOSE

The Yamaha SuperJet Square Nose is a legend in PWC history and a must-have for my collection. Ideally I would really like to find a 1994 but any of the orginal gen Square Nose would be ace!

kawasaki x2

The Kawasaki X2 is a legend in PWC history and a must-have for my collection. As the first stand-up/sit-down hybrid, it changed the game with its unique design, sharp handling, and iconic 2-stroke power.
