So I promised I would get one and I have! I found a pristine 27 year old Wave Blaster 2, maybe one of the cleanest left in circulation. Watch along were I travel down to Southampton and discover a show room Blaster in a shed, literally I’m not kidding, this classic was being stored in a shed...when you see this classic 2 stroke WaveRunner you will see what I mean, this is a much watch...
So everyone keeps asking why I bought the Yamaha Wave Blaster II vs. the OG Blaster 1, and the honest answer to that question is, in the whole time I have been searching for a pristine find Blaster, I have never seen not only a Blaster 1 but also a Blaster II, so when this came up it was essentially fate, and felt that here in the UK, this was a once in a 5 year find, that would rarely come up again, if at all, in this condition...At which point the consideration of blaster 1 vs. II become irrelevant. I also lent towards the II as it’s considered more stable, which will make it more useable for both me and Megs’ riding days out...
So we are getting pretty close to the video you have all been waiting for...the first ride on this 1998 Wave Blaster II HOWEVER first in this episode there are some things I need to do before the first ride, including removing 2 year old bad fuel, that has been sat in the ski, so want to remove that as don’t want to run bad fuel...Then I wanted to give the Blaster a thorough flush as the previous owner only flushed the ski using a 12volt washer, which is ok but for my piece of mind, I wanted to flush using ‘BluThru’ to help break down any salt deposits...Then I move onto a top to bottom deep clean, plus give the ski a fresh coat of ceramic wax...finally a new winch is installed and we are good to go riding...
In this episode boy do you get treated, I managed to track down a drone pilot which has been on my to do list for some time, to start capturing drone footage of my classics...It gives you all the angles you could ever want. Watch along as I experience for the first time ever, what the Blaster II feels like to ride, and let’s just say, it really didn’t disappoint. In this video I give my honest, first impression and of course, fall off this notorious ski...It was a blast so I hope you enjoy watching it.
After a long winter, I’m back on the water with my pristine 1998 WaveBlaster II 760, and let me tell you… this thing is STILL an absolute blast! 🚀💨 Nothing beats that raw 2-stroke power, and this legendary machine is proving once again why it’s a timeless classic.
Next up, enter the B2... for as long as I can remember since doing the CJ channel, everyone has always said you need a blaster in your line up, and ok yes I know this is a B2 not the OG 1...but when this example came up, its maybe, if not the cleanest ski I have seen, 25 years removed. It looks like new! And it really didn’t disappoint, this blaster is one of my favourite rides I’ve had!
Since day one I understood that alongside the X4 XP's, Yamaha Blasters are as iconic...yes this isn't the iconic B1 but the B2 is an iconic model.
In Europe this B2 was made up until 1998 and I managed to find this super clean example. It felt pretty cool to have found one of the last production models.
This is one of, if not the cleanest finds I have... it literally looks brand new, so when it came up I purchased it within days of seeing it.
Everyone told me the blaster hulls are as good as the X4s, so I wanted to find out for myself... its very close I have to say but I would say the x4 xp just pips the B2... I guess I need to find a B1.
